Wetherby Home Care Agency Holds Fundraiser for Local Charity
22/01/2015
Carefound Home Care Wetherby has successfully raised funds for a local charity dedicated to supporting the elderly.
Staff from Carefound held a raffle during Christmas season to gather prizes that were donated by clients and their friends and families as well as the care home’s staff. Among the prizes were perfumes, food hampers, scented candles and chocolates.
Carefound’s staff were able to sell a handful of tickets in Wetherby and the fundraiser’s winners were selected during New Year. Money raised went directly to Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE).
A registered charity sponsored by Leeds City Council, WiSE has been helping the elderly’s cause since 2003. The charity provides help and support activities and services to elderly people in Wetherby as well as nearby villages. Its services include befriending services, rendering information and advice, providing volunteer transport scheme and even holding IT courses.
Carol Giblin, Carefound Home Care’s Community and HR Coordinator, told Wetherby News last January 13 that Carefound is thankful for participants of the fundraiser.
She said: “Working with local community groups like WiSE is a key part of our efforts to enable elderly people to continue to enjoy independent living in their own homes and, as ever, it was great to have the opportunity to support their service.”
