I am a mature female carer born and raised outside Manchester UK though i spent 4 years studying in Birmingham. I am widowed with 3 grown up children and grandchildren. I have general care experience in a care home, and Live in care experience. When young I was a school teacher for 40 years. One of my teaching subjects was health and social care. I retired to take care of my aunt and later took care of my mother. My aunt though blind from age 89 lived to 99, she died of old age and my mother who had heart failure lived to 98. I also provided a lot of help for my brother who had a stroke until he was in good recovery. For the last 4 years or more I have been looking after my husband who had Parkinson's and dementia. He fell in hospital, had brain damage and for the last 10 months of his life was bedbound. It was an honour to be of service to each of these people and I am grateful I was able to help them in the later stages of their lives.

I am now coming to terms with the loss of my husband and when ready would prefer a future where I can help someone else at a difficult time in their later life. I am looking for work in London, Dorset or West Sussex as I have relatives there and at some point may manage brief visits to see them.

I am a native speaker of English, my parents were from Manchester.
I have a full drivers licence.
I am respectful of the religion and culture of others.
I am used to administering medication, dealing with most NHS departments, attending appointments, liaising with social services, directing carers, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing and all household chores. I have spent days and nights in hospital observing procedures and routines.
I believe I am empathic, understanding and kind. I appreciate how difficult it can be for the wider family when they worry about the welfare of a relative. I have been in this position myself.
My aim previously has been to enrich the lives of the people I have been looking after. If they are able to get out and about I enjoy that too. I have no preference for males or females, I will help where needed.
Please bear in mind I am flexible, I have my own home, I don't really want to be away for more than 3 weeks at a time because of my house insurance.
However I can be on call as a stop gap if there are problems elsewhere and there are short term placements to do. I am happy to fill in temporarily until the family sort permanent carers. Weeks on and weeks off is maybe a possibility.
I enjoy the company of older people and am willing to help where I can but can no longer do heavy lifting. (actually I'm now turned 70 myself but luckily in good health) Please get in touch if I can help.
