Dear sir/madam,
My own personal experience before going into care work, was becoming my uncles personal carer after he had a stroke. Due to a head injury my son was left in a coma for a week.
After numerous hospital and therapy appointments for both of them I decided to go with my passion of support or care worker.
I started working as a domiciliary care worker in December 2013, the job involved home visits, sit in and live in.
On visits I would assist with toileting, bathing, showering, hoisting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, medication and general tidying up.
I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people while doing my care work. Visits have ranged from people living in their own homes, care/nursing, and residential homes.
I would at times work on my own or with another carer.
