Job Description

Our client had to undertake an emergency break in her car which jolted her and caused her spinal cord injury. She has complex needs and will require an experienced live-in carer. Looking for a 2 week on 2 week off possibly but can be flexible.

• Currently – her sister knows will go in throughout the day to assist her
• Paralyzed 8-9 years ago
• Previously had care delivered by friends, family & relatives – didn’t work due to it being a little relaxed and wants something more professional
• Training given previously by family but District Nurses will provide all relevant training
• Sepsis – nearly 5 years ago and this resulted in other health issues.
• Connective tissue disorder, which is a genetic condition
• Gastro issues were experienced 4 years ago, she went in for an operation for Jpeg this went wrong and now only has Gpeg which is only used for medication. This resulted in scepsis
• Was very active and would like to get back to this quality of life.
• Lives in a bungalow with her dog Dudley.
• Used to be bubbly and loud, likes Disney films and sports, very social
• She uses cannabis therapy.
• The carer is required to feed and let the dog in the garden – a dog walker is also employed.
• Continuity is important for the client, long-term assignment required
• Nurse helping at the moment and will help with training
• Training on drawing up meds and administering
• Fentinal patches being used
• Appointments to be kept on top of at all times
• Does have a wheelchair-accessible car so driver essential
• She can become confused and overwhelmed
• Patience and understanding required
• Can get upset and frustrated due to her situation so needs reassurance
