Job Description

We are looking for carers (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) to live-in with an elderly man, living alone in a beautiful house in a quiet part of west London.

Before his illness, our client led a very busy life, raising a family, and very active in his local community. He is a bright and independent man, not someone who takes kindly to someone trying to fuss and patronise him.

Our client has a muscular and nerve degenerative condition (Integral Body Myosotis, or IBM), not dissimilar to Motor neurone disease.

He has difficulty swallowing and is shortly to have a peg operation so peg experience as well as catheter care is required. Although he can weight bare, he has mobility difficulties and uses a Sara steady/hoist for transfers. He will require help with all housekeeping tasks, preparing nutritious and appetising meals, with dressing and washing. He likes to spend his time watching the TV, and when he to, getting out and about with his mobility scooter, either nearby or along the Thames path, which is not too far.

We are looking for someone able and willing to form a genuinely meaningful relationship. Someone who will really work with us to bring joy to his home and colour to his life as he lives with a life-limiting illness.

Salary is £1,100 per week (including food).
