Job Title: Live-in Carer

Salary: £24,500 per year and free accommodation (private bedroom, en-suite bathroom and full use of communal areas of the house and garden) including all utility bills and council tax

Annual leave: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays / bank holidays in lieu

Employment type: Private employment with all necessary pension and NI arrangements. This is a permanent position but with an initial probation period to ensure the arrangement is working for both parties.

Location: Prime location in Teddington, 5 mins walk to the High Street and River Thames

Reports to: Employer and her family

Responsible for: Care duties relating to a very pleasant 80 year old lady with some mobility and short-term memory difficulties. Care needs may increase over time.

Job Purpose: We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic carer willing to interact with a very pleasant and intelligent ladyThis is a live-in carer role to assist the daily needs of an 80 year old with some mobility and short-term memory difficulties. Very close family members live nearby and will support the post-holder in their role in a pro-active way.

Key Responsibilities:

· To assist in meal provision

· To keep the house clean, tidy and hygienic

· To accompany daily 20 minute walks in the local area

· To place a commode by the bedside at night and empty the commode in the morning

· To support personal care needs, which currently involves infrequent assistance

· Daily 20 minute supervision of physiotherapy exercises

· Occasional transport to appointments such as hairdresser

· To engage periodically in activities such as board games / jigsaws

· There will be substantial daily periods of time when the carer will be free of responsibilities

Person Specification:

Essential Requirements

  • Some experience in the care / health care field
  • DBS check (employer can facilitate this)
  • Willingness to undertake any necessary mandatory training as required
  • Full clean valid UK driving licence
  • At least 2 references from recent employment
  • Awareness of data protection and confidentiality regarding all information
  • Willingness to be open to feedback
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Existing right to work in the UK

Desirable Requirements

  • Up to date training in first aid
  • Experience of working with or caring for the elderly
  • Good communication skills and an interest in discussing a range of subjects
  • Knowledge relating to difficulties with impaired mobility and short-term memory.
