Job Description

The placement is to support a couple and will pay £130 per day plus a food allowance of £40 per week. Travel will be paid from home to and from the client at the start and end of the placement. Bank holidays are paid at 1.5 times and Christmas and New Year's Day at 2 times. The work pattern (i.e. weeks on / off) is not yet set.

The clients are a lovely couple who live in a large house in a village just to the north of Banbury (it has a small shop, two pubs and a small GP surgery – it’s about four miles from Banbury see map by clicking here). They have been receiving hourly support from us for almost a year (4 visits a day totalling 5 hours) but are now wanting to move to live in support. Relationships with them are very good as they are with their son who lives in Banbury.

She has a diagnosis of dementia but is still active enjoying activities in the home and walks during the day. She loves her garden and can get a little anxious at times needing reassurance when she feels like this. She is excited about having live-in as it will be someone else for her to talk to and do things with.

He has a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease but is very proud and likes to live as independent a life as possible. He spends his time in the day watching TV and resists care in the sense he tries to be up and dressed before our current morning visit to show he is independent for example. He needs encouragement to be active and do his exercises daily as prescribed by his Parkinson's Nurse – without encouragement he is unlikely to do these.

Both clients receive help with personal care, medication, meal preparation and looking after the house. She is likely to need more support in general than him but neither have a high level of need.
