Callquest for Care are recruiting for experienced care workers to support elderly clients in their own homes as live-in carers.
We provide care in around Kent, Surrey and South London. We have a range of clients, including long-term health conditions, elderly people who may be infirm due to age, have complex conditions or dementia.
Eve’s story: Eve is a lovely lady who needs support to remain safe in her own home. She needs help with her mobility, she suffered a stroke. She had always been independent and loved to go to the shops every day. She has two lovely daughters who comes around to visit and do her shopping every weekend. Eve has a falls history.
Our live-in carer has allowed Eve to retain her independence and remain safe. Eve can still decide where she goes and when, the carer helps her choose an appropriate outfit and make sure she gets to her appointments on time and finds her way back home safely. Eve loves having someone to chat to also making sure she has regular meals and remind her when to put the TV on to watch the tennis or her favourite black and white films.
When her daughter visits, she can spend quality time with her Mum rather than having to deal with day to day problems and domestic issues.
To be a good live-in carer you need to be cheerful and talkative, resourceful and able to deal with problems as they arise, non-judgemental and patient with people who are not as quick or efficient as you! You must have good verbal and written English and a high standard of personal and domestic hygiene. You should also be able to cook basic family meals.
We offer you:
The duties will vary depending on the needs of each client, but are likely to include helping with personal care such as washing, dressing and changing pads, assisting with food and medication, light housework and shopping.
You would be employed by Callquest for Care Limited, this is NOT self-employed work.
A new or updated enhanced criminal record check will be required and excellent professional references.
We provide a 5-day induction that meets the national Skills for Care requirements. Training is held in Sevenoaks and accommodation can be arranged during training. Quick start available for applicants with DBS Update subscription and up to date training certificates.
Work patterns are variable depending on the needs of the client, but can be a minimum of 1 week up to around 8 weeks continuous work. You need to have your own home to return to during your times off. For those carers who like variety, we have opportunities to work as a relief where you will work with a number of different clients.
